Orbitz, the 2nd largest online travel agent in the United States, has decided not to renew the contract of Alamo Rent A Car and National Car Rental brands which ended on March 31 after several months of difficult negotiations. Starting this month, customers will see Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group-owned services instead.

According to Enterprise Holdings, owner Alamo and National, the conflict started when they determined that Orbitz? commission rates are too high.

Enterprise president Pam Nicholson said in a statement that the separation was ?punitive? in nature.

Orbitz, on the other hand, said that the companies agreed to end the agreement and as such they?ve found another deal.

Orbitz spokesperson Brian Hoyt said that the company was able to come up with a new contract with Dollar Thrifty. And the provisions in the agreement will make it possible to give customers with better deals.
